Refugee Assistance Program

Conflict in Somalia has displaced hundreds of thousands of individuals. Since 1991, CARE has provided relief and development assistance for the three refugee camps in Dadaab in addition to supporting host communities around the camps. In recent months, drought and conflict in Somalia has in-creased the refugee influx into Dadaab at a rate of up to 1,600 refugees each day. As of 16th October 2011, the population in Dadaab stood at 463,739 refugees. Two more camps have been opened ; Kambioos and Ifo Extension , where the new refugee influx will be moved to and settled by November 2011. In Dadaab, CARE offers these services:
